Fur Coat
Fur Coat
Hailing originally from Venezuela, and now based in Barcelona, Fur Coat's story is one of passion for salsa and soul, blended with love for electronic music. It's a tale of deep, dark driven beats and rolling grooves that both encapsulates the mind and moves the feet. It was this love of music that by chance in 2004 brought Sergio Munoz and Israel Sunshine together and led to a musical intertwining which would drape itself royally over the shoulders of the music industry. This is the story of Fur Coat...
In 2010 Crosstown Rebels founder Damian Lazarus unearthed Fur Coat and promptly signed and released their highly anticipated debut EP "Space Ballad". However It would be their release 'You and I' featuring vocals from Cari Golden in 2012 that would put the name Fur Coat on the tongue of weekend warriors across the universe. 'You and I' became an anthem globally and added fuel to the Fur Coat fire that was blazing bright. Showing no sign of dowsing that fire throughout 2012 they provided remixes for uber cool labels such as Culprit, Get Physical and My Favorite Robot, and played at some of the finest venues across the world including Warehouse Project (Manchester), DC-10 (Ibiza), Day Zero (Mexico), Verboten (New York) plus many more. As 2012 drew to a close, the pair released their debut album 'Mind Over Matter' on Crosstown Rebels once more. The album was a smooth blend of club bombs and downtempo grooves which received rave reviews. This was the perfect way to end a landmark year, propelling Fur Coat through 2013 with a jam packed dj and production diary.
A successful album is a hard act to follow, but Fur Coat managed to traverse this rocky path with consummate ease. It wasn't long before the pair were called upon to sprinkle the unmistakable Fur Coat magic to reworks of legends such as Timo Maas & Robert Owens as well as hot newcomers Kidnap Kid & Joy Wellboy. April 2014 saw another landmark as the guys released their first original material since Mind Over Matter. 'Theres No Time EP' came out on the much hyped Hot Creations imprint from Jamie Jones & Lee Foss and is still getting hammered by some of the biggest players in the game today. Hot on the heals came 'The Right Move EP' for Ellen Allien's legendary Berlin imprint Bpitch Control, and featured the vocal talents of Jaw from DOP, again cementing Fur Coat's name at the top of the industry. However this is just the tip of the iceberg. September will see the much anticipated return to Crosstown Rebels as they release a killer 4 track EP that you are already hearing across dance floors globally. If that wasn't enough a compilation for highly esteemed Balance series is already in the works, the rise of Fur Coat shows no sign of stopping...
Emanate :

(Mioli Music // San Francisco)
Emanate (Emily & Nate) fell in love with the mystique of electronic music at an early age.
Nathan Vain knew right away what his future passion held when he acquired his first
turntables at the age of 17. Emily Fox took a different route starting her journey in the
music scene as an organizer and promoter. This endeavor lead to landing Nathan his first
residency at a popular after hours spot back in 2001. A few years down the road and a
desire for their success growing strong they moved to San Francisco together and started
producing music as Emanate.
Nathan enhanced his knowledge of music and the industry working at DanceRecords(dot)com
from ‘04 to ‘09 as a Content Manager. That was followed by a stint interning at the
Mothership / Dirtybird labels. He also spent some time at the DJTechTools office working
with midi controllers and software.
Emily has developed her understanding of Electronic music culture by throwing various
events throughout San Francisco over the years. She also spent some time as a member
of (a few) bands where she was writing songs, singing and playing keyboard. Emily’s next
logical step became DJing, as a way to expand her talents and performance needs.
Following the path of natural evolution they started up their own label Mioli Music in 2010
(Move It Or Lose It). Since 2010 they’ve released music as Emanate and individually. They
have also signed various international artists on Mioli.
Both Emanate and Mioli had a breakout year in 2013 when Kollektiv Turmstrasse charted
their remixes of Lily Ackerman’s “Africa” and also their remix of TrAck’s
“Stay” on
Resident Advisor. Being featured, charted and played in DJ sets along with the likes of
Stimming, Adriatique, Bonobo and David August was a milestone that validated their hard
work and dedication, it also alerted the world of their arrival. A relocation to Berlin in early
2014 helped formulate and solidify their craft and sound. While in Berlin Emanate
produced and released their debut album “Alliance” and played their first Live Show. The
Alliance album was well received and featured on various music magazine websites and
dance music blogs but also recognized by Emanate as an immensely developmental
experience. With their follow up EP “Through It / Switchiz” getting as much buzz as it has it
looks like 2015 will be a door opening year for Emanate. From Techno, Tech House to
Deep House you can expect a clever blend and balance of deep and edgy music.
