Jazz Mafia
Jazz Mafia
Jazz Mafia is the quintessential San Francisco sound; combining original music with Classic Hip-Hop, Jazz, Electronica, R&B, Soul and Afro-Cuban styles - a collection of the Bay Area’s most talented musicians, singers and MC's. This collective was founded in 2000 and is led by Adam Theis.

As Jazz Mafia’s director, Adam has assembled over 100 different live projects over the past 17 years and led/co-led dozens of acclaimed bands including: The Shotgun Wedding Quintet (Live/Hip-Hop Crossover), Realistic Orchestra (Futuristic Big Band), Western Territory Project (Classical/Jazz Crossover), Subharmonic (Electro/Jazz), Brass Mafia (Brass Band), Crossroads (Dusty Funk), Cosa Nostra (Acoustic Heavy Metal) and the 50-Piece Jazz Mafia Symphony.

Theis has produced and co-written music for notable artists such as Lyrics Born, Zion-I, Rebelution, Latyrx, Galactic, Ledesi, Blackalicious and many more. As a sideman, Adam and his horn section have created interesting collaborations with a wide range of top-level artists including: Bobby McFerrin, Roy Ayers, Chali 2na, Booker T. Jones, Spearhead, Zigaboo Modeliste, Zap Mama, Eric Lindell, Dead Winter Carpenters, KRS One, Wax Tailor, The New Master Sounds, Peter Rowan, Coultrain, J Boogie’s Dubtronic Science, The Velvetteen and dozens more.
Vau de Vire Society
Vau de Vire Society
Spawned from the depths of San Francisco’s thriving dance and circus subcultures, Vau de Vire Society has ravaged and titillated live entertainment for 15 years, causing jaws to drop in awe and admiration around the world. This avant-cabaret community consists of classically trained dancers, some of the nations most acclaimed acrobats, aerial artists, contortionists and circus sideshow acts, an array of unique fire-performers, a handful of thespians, and a barrage of the most enticing go-go dancers.

The group has been cross-pollinating genres by collaborating with an eclectic variety of world-renowned musicians and DJs in creating original stage shows and festival productions spanning social barriers. Most notable recent collaborators include Cirque du Soleil, San Francisco Symphony, Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Paul Van Dyke, The Dresden Dolls, Peaches, The Alkaline Trio, Fishbone, The Madd Vibe Orchestra, Crystal Method, and Tiesto. We’ve also provided live support performances for James Brown, 50 Cent, Wyclef Jean, Velvet Revolver, The Cure and many more widely respected international artists.

Attending a Vau de Vire Society event is akin to stepping into an interactive circus where all layers of pretension are discarded at the door. The common two-dimensional wall between audience and performer is shattered by VdV artists emerging within the crowd, performing thematic roaming vignettes. The audience and performer become a single force, creating an art-filled environment providing all in attendance a safe haven to indulge fantasies of running away with the circus…if even for the night. No matter the genre they infiltrate with their unique brand of circus theatrics, the Vau de Vire Society creates a live choreographed explosion of all that is beautifully talented.

Lateef
Lateef
Lateef the Truthspeaker is a Grammy nominated MC who is most well known for his role as 1/5 of the Bay Area rap collective, Quannum Projects. Originally dubbed ‘Solesides’, he and partners DJ Shadow, The Gift of Gab, Chief Xcel & Lyrics Born helped usher in the “Underground” era of Hip-Hop in the early to mid-90’s and has established himself as not only a prolific solo artist, but also as a member of some of the most eclectic and superstar groups to come out of the Bay Area including Latyrx (w/ Lyrics Born), Maroons (w/ Chief Xcel) and The Mighty Underdogs (w/ The Gift of Gab & Headnodic).

Lateef (born Lateef Daumont) was raised in Oakland, CA by former Black Panthers. Growing up in a politically charged household set the stage for an MC who has gone on to be as politically outspoken as he is creative. Writing rhymes as early as 13, Lateef honed his craft from his early years in high school all the way through his attendance at UC Davis – where he met his aforementioned Quannum cohorts.

Since writing classic tracks such as “Lady Don’t Tek No”(a Bay Area anthem penned with fellow Latyrx member Lyrics Born), “Want You Back” (The Mighty Underdogs) and “Wonderful Night” (a collaboration with Fatboy Slim) Lateef has gone on to cement himself in the world music scene through frequent collaborations with Blackalicious, DJ Shadow and the aforementioned Fatboy Slim as well as a diverse catalog of material which includes 5 albums, 3 EPs, 4 Mixtapes and countless features.

The past 5 years have been busy for Lateef as he and Latyrx partner Lyrics Born released The Second Album(the long-awaited follow-up to the first Latyrx album from 1997) which saw him on the road in support of the highly anticipated sequel as well as touring extensively with Blackalicious - which has led to a number of shows featuring himself, The Gift of Gab & Lyrics Born officially under the moniker Quannum MCs for the first time in a long time.

Lateef is currently on tour with Blackalicious & the Quannum MCs performing all over the globe, but when not on the road is hard-at-work on a new album and mixtape to drop later this year.
