This event is 21 and over

As we all know Puerto Rico was recently devastated by hurricane Maria. It leveled the entirety of the island and decimated almost all of their infrastructure. Here in San Francisco we’re all very blessed to live in such a beautiful city and to call this welcoming community our home.
With that in mind, we’d like to pay it forward in any way we can. So, this Friday, October 13th The Great Northern will be throwing one hell of a party with all proceeds to benefit the wonderful people of Puerto Rico.

We’ll have plenty of the Bay Area’s favorite DJ’s (and maybe a surprise headliner or two...), giveaways, raffles, drink specials, and tons more!! Tickets for the event go up today at www.greatnorthern sf.com. Bring a friend, enjoy the night, and have some fun all in the name of a great cause.

Puerto Rico we love you!

Galen
Galen
Galen founded Sunset Sound System with the idea of providing free, outdoor picnic-style parties where people could commune and dance while watching the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline. Word spread quickly, and what began as a few friends with speakers and a generator turned into festivities of over 1,000 people within the first year.  Today, Sunset Sound System is on the move, boasting big-name talent for their international boat parties, festival-style campouts and famed park gatherings.
The early Sunset events served as Galen's creative outlet and a prime platform to perfect his technique. DJing meant extensive knowledge of music history, hard-earned vinyl collections, and truly intuitive mixing. Inspired by the psychedelic climate of the 90's San Francisco music scene Galen successfully grew himself into a household name that he maintains today, holding it down with the world's top talent. His sets are thoughtful, yet never pre-planned, with artfully-timed track selections that spark any dance floor he touches, appealing to the old school just as much as the new.
Creative fusion with Claude VonStroke led to a killer remix of '80s breakbeat classic "Jam On It," and a mutual profound love for pizza inspired him and Justin Martin to co-produce Dirtybird classics, "Dust Devil" and "Tumbleweed."   Soon after, he landed a coveted feature spot on Annie Nightingale's Radio 1 Show where he impressed BBC listeners with his smooth mixing style. Most recently, Galen's Sunset remix of "I Feel Love" by Get Physical charmer, Lopazz, catapulted to #1 on his Beatport chart.
The summer of 2013 opened European doors with a breakthrough appearance at Dirtybird's Ibiza residency. At Croatia's Garden Festival, Galen shined on the Sunset Sound System Boat Party alongside Justin Martin, Eats Everything, and Solar. His new track, "ICANCU" has just been released on the Dirtybird BBQ Compilation and another "Your Own Style" is to coming out soon on Smoke N' Mirrors. 2014 also brings the boys of Sunset Sound System back to Croatia for another Garden Festival Boat Party among other European dates.

Sepehr
Sepehr
Booming 808s fueled the day parties and weekend festivals spread across the San Francisco Bay Area that were Sepehr's stomping grounds. Driven by a desire to better understand this energy, he would dive deep into the underground culture of warehouses and sweaty basements pulsing to the beat of an even more evocative sound.

With this new world came a swell of knowledge that evolved Sepehr's sonic understanding. Intertwining this new foundation with past influences ranging from hip hop to post-hardcore allowed him to construct a sound all his own. His productions and DJ sets have synthesized the subtle nuances of minimal, the primal atmosphere of techno, and the ghetto sleaze of booty.

Sepehr has found his place whether it be on one of countless top 10 charts compiled by world class artists or on a festival stage in South America. His plethora of inspirations and ideas have already caused heads to turn globally, and will come together to shake dance floors for years to come alongside his seabound friends and family, Tech Dolphin.
Benjamin K
Benjamin K
It's a booty shakin sort of a thing.

A small town boy at heart, Benjamin was born and raised in Colorado, graduating from college in the small mountain town Durango, CO. With influences of everyone from Sasha to Prince, Whitney Houston to Tale of Us his sound is best described with two words...lust and love. After making a name for himself behind the decks, playing alongside heavy hitters the world over, and working to throw and host absurd theme parties that were consistently sold out and ample amounts of strange…..he decided it was time to pursue the life of happiness for real, packed his bags, quit his career teaching, and moved out to San Francisco. Now with just three years under his belt in the city, he's been able to pick up where he left off….and then some. Creating a monthly in the city called 'You're Welcome', bringing in some old and new favorites from all across the underground, and all across the world, has catapulted him to a consistent name stay in the SF underground. It's begun, but you've only just seen the tip…

Marky Ray
Marky Ray
I grew up with a strong love of dance music from a very early age. A group of my friends and I started DJ-ing in high school in 1997. Friday afternoons we would go record shopping, talk about music and spin all day. Through college we would throw renegades at various outdoor locations like toxic beach back when it was called 'that cutty spot at the end of 23rd."

In the early 2000s I spent 3 years in London going to school and cultivated a taste for hard industrial techno and UK hard house. Hard and fast became the only way to play tracks, dance and listen to music.

After a couple years of casually clubbing and always paying attention to music I started helping Brass Tax plan and throw parties in 2012. A year later I DJ-ed a friends wedding Bounce Festival in 2013. At Supper of Survivors 2014 I got scooped up as an official resident of Brass Tax and I haven't looked back.
Brunch Life
Brunch Life
Micah picked up DJing at the very early age of 1.5, stunning his family and securing his future as a party prodigy. Unfortunately, due to a freak turntable accident on his tenth birthday, Micah developed a fear of spinning records. His family and friends encouraged him to conquer his fear and continue along the path to DJ stardom, but alas he could not be swayed. Micah went twenty whole years without picking up the needle again. Wait...that sounded weird. He went twenty years without DJing, ok? Anyway, he's come a long way on the road to recovery, and is finally ready to get back behind the decks and create some aural magic.
